Rudi Wrany aka Dj Crazy Sonic was born in Carinthia, but in 1987, he moved to Vienna to study political science. Very soon he discovered Vienna’s nightlife and club scene and decided to follow his passion in music by becoming a DJ. He was always very passionate for funky music, and this is why not many people remember that he once started out as DJ for Rock and Alternative music.

However, in the mid 90`s, when he met DJ DSL, and Kruder and Dorfmeister, he quickly realised that organising parties was an additional way to pamper his passion in music, and as a result, he founded the legendary con:verse club at Meierei. At its peak in 2001, he decided to move to Flex to take on the challenge of attracting crowds to techno venues during the week. This idea was so unique at the time, that everybody thought it was too crazy to do. So it was obvious that there was only one name for this club: “CRAZY”. Very quickly he established Tuesday as one of the biggest party days at the famous underground venue.

As DJ he moved his focus on house and techno music in 2001, a style that only became popular in Vienna around 2003, and many international DJ’s of the likes of Luciano, Ricardo Villalobos, Laurent Garnier, DJ Hell, Richie Hawtin or Sven Väth joined Crazy Sonic to play at Flex – CRAZY, which made him and his club famous all over Europe.

Having established his name as DJ and venue host, he looked for a new challenge, and in 2005, Crazy Sonic moved into music production and founded FLEXSchallplatten. At first, he released several compilations, but only to focus on “home-grown” Viennese techno productions in 2007, mostly in close cooperation with Ken Hayakawa.

As this was not enough, he is also touring and cooperating with international top-clubs such as Weekend/Berlin, Monza/Frankfurt, Registratur/Munich, Toy/Stuttgart, Hive/Zurich, Be Cool/Barcelona, Macarena/Barcelona, Fever/Bilbao, Via Latina/Coimbra, Hleb/Kiew, The Bank/Bejing and many festivals such as UAF, Spring, Creamfields, to name a few.

Finally, in 2008, together with Ken Hayakawa he started his weekly radio show on Radio Superfly
